3: Who Should Join?

The Participants

From Ae to Ze, all individuals typically experiencing the “otherness” that gendered sports, gyms, change rooms, rest rooms and life instil are welcome to participate! Their closest of allies are welcome as well (partners, best friends, cuddle-buds, etc); I trust no one would intentionally bring any disrespectful trolls to what is supposed to be a safe space. That being said, please be sure you’re aware of your guests attitude towards proper pronoun usage and the diversity that exists in our communities.

As people who generally do not conform to society’s expectations of who we should be, we often face violence, harassment, perversely invasive questioning, and bullying. Add on top of that anything else that makes us “different” like our race, ethnicity, religious beliefs or non-beliefs, being neuroatypical/neurodivergent, disabled, poor, anything other than the right amount of thin, or LGBTQ, then there’s the added burden of wearing the armour needed to survive as such. This means that we are constantly fighting each day just for the right to exist. The exciting news is that means that each of us are already fighters! You are a fighter! You had to be to make it this far; I can relate. Compared to that, this program could be considered the gentle fight.

Now, a great way to release the stress of life for a lot of people is to sweat it out in a workout (sometimes it’s to curl up at home and cuddle the pup instead). Doing a workout with friends or soon-to-be friends though, is an excellent method of community-building and self-development. Learning the skills for boxing can help build confidence and it’s just fun to learn something new! So, if you have the energy, time and desire, I would encourage anyone who’s curious to join the Enby Boxing club!
