ABOUT UMBRELLA
Located on Treaty 1 Territory: Umbrella Boxing (formerly Queer/Enby Boxing) is for members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and people of marginalized genders, to learn the sport of boxing. This is a space for members of our community who do not feel safe or included in current gym or boxing club environments. It is for those who want to experience boxing and boxing fitness in an environment that rejects fatphobia, body-shaming, misogyny and other forms of discrimination and harmful messaging about health and fitness.
Established by Jesse, a non-binary, Indigenous leader who has been a part of the boxing community since 2010, the exclusion of binary-divided sports are known firsthand. However, so are the tremendous benefits of the physical and mental challenges that boxing presents!
